ENB - Region 9 Notices 8/5/2009

Negative Declaration

Erie County - Erie County, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Botanical Gardens Cistern Installation Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the installation of a cistern (below grade) at the Botanical Gardens in order to capture precipitation (from the roof of the greenhouse) which currently flows into a storm sewer system. The captured/stored rainwater will be used for onsite irrigation and/or recharging the bog at the adjacent lake thereby decreasing the need to purchase treated municipal water for this type of use. The cistern will have a filtering system. Also included in the project will be a system of pumps, valves and piping which are needed for distribution of the water from the cistern. The project is located at 2451 South Park Avenue, Buffalo, New York.
