Project Description:

To expand an existing food composting facility and process up to five tons of food waste per day. P & S Excavating, LLC processes food and food packaging waste, farm, yard and wood waste through windrow composting to produce a nutrient rich product for soil improvement. Since 2006 Cayuga Compost has participated in the Tompkins County Solid Waste Division's Organic Waste Collection Pilot Project to divert food waste from facilities in Tompkins County. The finished product is sold in bulk to landscapers and nurseries.
Cayuga Compost is located at 3225 Agard Road, Trumansburg, New York in the Town of Ulysses, Tompkins County. The area occupied by the composting operation is approximately 5 acres of a total of 114 acres, much of which is actively farmed.
