Project Description:

The Town of Guilderland proposes to make several improvements to the former McKownville Reservoir located on north side of Route 20, and west of Stuyvesant Plaza. The proposed work would modify the overall existing structure by installing new stormwater control features that would allow the structure to function better as a stormwater control basin, which would help to reduce flooding problems along this section of State Route 20 during storm events. The work will involve constructing an earthen control structure across the basin to create two sections, installing a diversion pipe to connect stormwater drainage from Stuyvesant Plaza to the basin; reconstructing the existing concrete outlet control structure, and replacing existing undersized culverts under Route 20 and further downstream. The project will also involve placing stone rip rap in portions of the structure for stabilization, dredging of sediments and other activities.

Project Description:

The applicant/permittee proposes to modify an existing permitted sand and gravel mine by adding an 8.5 acre area to the east and a 11.5 acre area to the north for a total expansion area of 20 acres. The existing mining site will be consolidated with the adjacent 12.4 acre Dyer Pit operated by and permitted to Warren W. Fane, Inc. (MLF #40213) and the 29 acre Callanan Pit operated by and permitted to Schuylerville Concrete, Inc. (MLF #40710). The revised Life of Mine area, including expansion and consolidation areas will total 165 acres. In addition the applicant/permittee is proposing to transfer sand and gravel for processing purposes from its existing permitted Brickyard Mine site located off of NYS Route 67 to the existing processing plant at the Hemstreet Park Pit. Such material will be hauled east via NYS Route 67 and south via Allen Road. The site is located on the east side of Allen Road in the Town of Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County. MLF # 40289.
