Project Description:

The applicant proposes to mechanically dredge approximately 25,000 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from the existing navigation channel and marina at the the Southpoint Marina facility. Nearshore portions of the project are located within State-designated Freshwater Wetland RE-1 (Class I). The total area proposed to be dredged includes the existing marina, which is about 4.4 acres, and the navigational channel, which is 40 feet wide by approximately 3,000 feet long. The channel will be dredged to an elevation of 239.3 feet, or about 6 feet deep, and the marina will be dredged to an elevation of 241.5 feet to 239.3 feet. Dredged spoil will be transported to and disposed at the US Army Corps of Engineers Open Lake Disposal Site located northwest of the Irondequoit Bay outlet channel to Lake Ontario.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to expand the existing Gifford Road mine an additional 9.2 acres. Mining will occur in a single lift to an elevation of approximately 540 ft. Excavation will generally proceed from west to east; all material will be mined above the water table. This parcel has been mined previously. Mining will also reaffect a 2.5 acre area adjacent to the office and shop area that is within the current life of mine, but has been previously reclaimed. The mine will continue to operate as a traditional surface excavation of sand and gravel using mechanical equipment, standard for this type of mining operation. No other significant changes are proposed to operational activities, reclamation plans, production volumes, vehicle trips, etc., other than the lateral expansion of the extent of the Life-of-Mine. Final reclamation will restore the site to an open space grassland area, uniformly graded and revegetated, including the replacement of stockpiled topsoil, and reseeding with an approved USDA SCS seed mixture. The reviewed Life-Of-Mine (LOM) area is 9.2 acres.

Project Description:

The Department has received an application for the formation of a town wide Water Improvement Area in the Town of Seneca. The proposed project involves the dissolution of all existing water districts in the Town of Seneca and the formation of a town wide Water Improvement Area to cover all areas of the town. The proposed project also includes the taking of an additional 18,400 gallons per day from the Town of Geneva's Kashong Point Wellfield and installation of 31 miles of 6 inch, 8 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch water main and appurtenances to serve 92 units not currently served with public water. The taking from the Town of Geneva's Kashong Point Wellfield is in addition to the water taken to serve the previously permitted water districts that are proposed to be incorporated into the town wide Water Improvement Area. Standard sedimentation and erosion controls will be employed to avoid contravention of the water quality standards of the streams in the project area.
The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to replace three existing 50' long culverts with two culverts totaling 330' in length. The increase in culvert length is necessary to address a safety concern associated with the existing steep slopes and to obtain proper shoulder widths. In addition to the culvert replacements the applicant is proposing to remove approximately 75 cubic yards of sediment from approximately 500 feet of stream and place it along the existing streambank where it will seeded and mulched.
