Permit(s) Applied for:

Article 17 Titles 7 & 8 Municipal SPDES - Surface Discharge

Project is Located:

Rotterdam, Schenectady County

Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to modify an existing SPDES permit No. NY-0020141 for the Rotterdam Sewer District No. 2 Sewage Treatment Plant which has a surface discharge to the Mohawk River, a class A water. The modification would increase the daily maximum discharge limit for copper from the current 0.25 lbs per day to 0.40 lbs. per day. The Department has conducted a water quality analysis evaluation confirming that the increase is within acceptable limits as the overall waste load allocation of copper to the Mohawk-Hudson Basin has been substantially reduced over the past several years. The facility is located at Campbell Avenue in the Town of Rotterdam, Schenectady County. A revised draft permit has been prepared and is available for review at the regional office.
