ENB - Region 3 Notices 6/17/2009
Amended Wetland Maps Filed for Ulster County
Subsequent to the promulgation of the final Freshwater Wetlands Maps for Ulster County in 1988, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) - Region 3 Staff found some inaccuracies on Map 24 of 37.
Having fully investigated these sites, Staff sent notice of the proposed amendments to the affected landowners and published notice in local newspapers and in the Environmental Notice Bulletin (ENB). A legislative public hearing was held on April 11, 2007 and a public comment period was provided through April 27, 2007. Additional landowner notice and public comment periods were provided through September 19, 2007 and May 15, 2008. Upon review of Staff's findings and recommendations relative to this matter, the Commissioner was satisfied that Staff appropriately responded to all oral and written comments on the proposed amendments, and that Staff's recommendations were consistent with the requirements of the Freshwater Wetlands Act and supported by the record. The Commissioner ordered that amendments be made to the final wetlands maps for Ulster County Map 24 of 37, effective June 17, 2009. The amendments consist of revising the boundaries of Wetlands M-21 and M-22; combining the wetlands into one wetland named M-21 and revising the wetland classification to Class 1. A copy of the amended final map will be filed with the office of the clerk of each affected local government and in the NYS DEC -Region 3 office. Wetlands can be viewed on the NYS DEC website by using the Environmental Resource Mapper found at www.dec.ny.gov/animals/38801.html .
