Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Huntington Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Lowe's Home Centers, Inc. Zone Change (2007-ZM-368) will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the removal of all of the C-10 Planned Motel District zoning and a portion of the R-5 Residence District zoning on the property and replace it with C-6 General Business zoning, which already covers a portion of the property. The end result will be an additional 14% of the site available for commercial use. The existing 114,720 square foot Huntington Townhouse building and parking lot will be demolished and replaced by a 184,911 square foot Lowe's home improvement store, one deck parking garage, and surface parking. The project will also require the closure and abandonment of Ackerly Court (northern portion of Iceland Drive), a Town road that currently divides the applicant's property into two portions. The project will require the applicant to make improvements along Jericho Turnpike (New York State Route 25), including traffic signal and intersection improvements. The project is located on the south side of Jericho Turnpike (NYS 25), on the west and east sides of Ackerly Court (Iceland Drive) in South Huntington, Town of Huntington, New York .

Positive Declaration

Suffolk County - The Town of Brookhaven Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Wal-Mart Store - East Patchogue may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves the clearing of approximately 16 acres of woodland for the construction of a 120,000 square foot Wal Mart retail store with approximately 550 parking spaces, associated drainage system, roadways and sanitary system. The project is located on the northeast corner of Sunrise Highway North Service Road and Hospital Road in East Patchogue, Town of Brookhaven, New York.
