Project Description:

The applicant, Titus Mountain, Inc., proposes to expand the currently permitted sand and gravel mine located 0.3 miles southwest of the Johnson Rd and Duane Rd intersection, at the Titus Mountain Ski Center. The proposal involves expanding the 16 acre site by 2.5 acres to the northeast, for a total Life of mine area of 18.5 acres. The 2.5 acre expansion area will not be mined, but will be used for placement of overburden material from the existing pit or as a stockpile area for processed material. Once the final topography is established, the 2.5 acres will be seeded and reclaimed to grassy vegetation.

Project Description:

As part of the Saratoga Lake Invasive Species Long-term Management Plan (ISLMP), the applicant proposes to apply the aquatic herbicide Renovate OTF (active ingredient: triclopir - 14%) to the western shoreline of Saratoga Lake, involving approximately 350 acres from just south of the State Route 9P bridge at the north to Stony Point at the south, to control Eurasian Watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum - EWM). This treatment represents the third and final year of a three-year treatment program. The herbicide application will take place in regulated Freshwater Wetland Q-11 (Class 1) and its Adjacent Area. Over the successive years, the goal of the ISLMP is to reduce the population of EWM by up to 80% by integrating spot and large area herbicide treatments, hand harvesting, mechanical harvesting, water level draw-down and other prevention and control methods. Saratoga Lake is an approximately 3850-acre lake located west of State Route 9P.
