Suffolk County - The Town of Islip Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Lowes may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves the development of a 23.5 ± acre parcel of land to accommodate a 170,393 square foot Lowe's building and associated parking (1,054 parking stalls proposed). The project is located at the southeast corner of Sunrise Highway, South Service Road and Church Street in Bayport, Town of Islip, New York

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing
Public Hearing Rescheduled and Comment Period Extended
Nassau County - The Glen Cove City Council, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed City of Glen Cove Master Plan. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on March 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Glen Cove City Hall Chambers, 9 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until April 13, 2009. A hard copy of the DEIS is available at the following locations: Glen Cove City Hall, 9 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542 and at the Glen Cove Library, 4 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Cove, NY 11542-2885. The online version of the DEIS is available at the following publically accessible web site: http://www.glencove-li.com.
The action involves the adoption of the Master Plan of the City of Glen Cove and as a related action, the adoption of implementing code amendments including but not limited to amendments to the Zoning and Subdivision of Land chapters of the City Code. Glen Cove's current Master Plan is several decades old and the City's existing land use regulations do not adequately address present challenges and trends. The City is facing strong development pressures and needs a vision for addressing future growth. Also included in the environmental review will be the review of the temporary emergency land use controls. The project is located city wide in the City of Glen Cove, New York.
