Project Description:

The Gillette Pond Owners Association proposes to dredge approximately 1500 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from Gillette Pond. The material will be placed on the adjacent homeowner's property. Due to elevated arsenic levels the NYSDEC and Monroe County Department of Health have recommended the dredged material be covered with clean topsoil, seeded and mulched. Additionally, a deteriorating 36" corrugated metal pipe water control structure will be replaced with a new concrete control structure.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The permit type is exempt or the activity is being reviewed in accordance with federal historic preservation regulations.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jan 22, 2009.

Project Description:

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is pursuing a Department Initiated Modification (DIM) to the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit NY-0108723, pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 750-1.18, New York State's Environmental Benefit Permit Strategy (EBPS). The Town of Williamson's Sewage Treatment Plant is permitted to discharge 0.625 million gallons per day of treated sanitary effluent to Lake Ontario. The following change to the permit is proposed: the chlorine residual is proposed to be lowered to 0.1 mg/l. DEC seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.
