Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative decision to approve a permit modification to allow 300,000 gallons per day to be recharged to groundwater instead of being discharged to the Port Jefferson Harbor. The proposed new outfall would recharge 300,000 gallons per day of treated wastewater. The draft permit is available for review at the Regional Office in Stony Brook. The facility is located on the Stony Brook campus on Loop Road, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.

The applicant proposes to regrade and increase the elevation of the existing roadway by a maximum of 2 feet, install 6 new culverts, and repair existing berms. The paved footprint of the road will remain the same, and all re-grading work will be done in the existing road easement which includes the road shoulder.
