Project Description:

Applicant proposes to install approximately 40 linear feet of sheet piling in front of an older dam on a portion of Spring Creek at the NY State Caledonia Fish Hatchery. The purpose of the project is to prevent water loss from behind the dam and an adjacent earthen berm where "piping" is occurring. Work will be limited to that area of the dam/berm so as to provide access to drive the sheet piling. Work involves the temporary crossing of a braid of Spring Creek and work within the NYS Freshwater Wetland CA - 1 (II) and the associated adjacent area.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

A cultural resources survey has been completed. Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have no impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Nov 06, 2008.

Project Description:

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to renew State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) # NY 015 9450, for Hammondsport Main Street School in Steuben County. This is a pre-existing Private/Commercial/Institutional SPDES permit. DEC has made a tentative determination to renew this permit and set a standard five year term maintaining current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements. This permit involves the surface discharge of up to 24,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste into Keuka Lake Inlet, a class C(T) water.

Additional information including the current permit, renewal applications, and supporting documentation may be obtained from or inspected at the DEC central office in Albany. Substantive comments on the permit or requests for hearing or both must be submitted in writing to the contact person.

DEC seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.
