Notice of Document Availability and Public Meeting with Comment Period
Project Title: Coney Island Creek Waterbody/Watershed Facility Plan Report, September 2008
County: Kings County (Borough of Brooklyn)
Lead Agency: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), Division of Water, Albany
Brief Description: Under a 2005 Consent Order with the NYS DEC, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) has prepared a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Waterbody/Watershed Facility Plan (WWFP) for Coney Island Creek that discharges to Gravesend Bay. The WWFP outlines the work that has been done to-date and future plans for improving water quality in Coney Island Creek, including abatement of the Combined Sewer Overflow into Coney Island Creek. The WWFP is the first step in the process of meeting current water quality standards. The Long Term Control Plan (LTCP), prepared in accordance with the USEPA CSO Policy, will be developed by the NYC DEP upon approval of the WWFP by NYS DEC.
Public Meeting: Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Community Board #13 offices located at 1201 Surf Avenue, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11224.
