Nassau County - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT), Region # 10, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Shared-Resource Public Safety and Wireless Communications Facility will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the installation of a 135 foot tall, multi-user, multi-purpose monopole, with related equipment at the base thereof and secured by a fence. The top of the Facility will support a DOT Intelligent Transportation System traffic monitoring camera, and will otherwise be reserved for the future communications equipment of other State Agencies that operate in the area. Future State communications antennas may include 20 foot whip antennas, the tops of which will be 155 feet above ground level. The Facility will also support the antennas of AT&T/Cingular Wireless at the 125 foot level, as well as future antennas of governmental agencies and wireless telecommunications providers at lower levels, together with a related equipment shelter for each user in a 50 foot by 65 foot fenced equipment area at the base thereof. The project is located on a 0.22 acre vacant parcel owned by the State of New York and under the jurisdiction of NYS DOT on the eastern side of the Exit 28A on-ramp to the east bound lanes of the Southern State Parkway at its intersection with the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (Route 135), in the Town of Hempstead, New York.

Postponement of Public Scoping
Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of Brookhaven, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Commons at Island Green may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The public scoping session scheduled for October 9, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brookhaven Town Hall will be postponed at this time. The action involves the change of zone of three parcels, totaling 15.25 acres, from Commercial Recreation, A-Residence-1, and J-Business-2 to Planned Development District. The project proposes the development of 216 residential units and 51,264 square foot of commercial space consisting of 40,464 square foot of retail and office space, a 6,800 square foot restaurant, and a 4,000 square foot drive through bank with parking, recreational space, and a sewage treatment plant. The existing uses on the lots include: a driving range with parking and a non-conforming used car lot. The project is located at 495 and 517 Middle Country Road in Selden, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS
Suffolk County - The Village of Islandia Board of Trustees, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Islandia Village Main Street Planned Development District. The action involves the proposal for a mixed-use Planned Development District consisting of one (1) eight story residential building with a total of 150 condominium units, one (1) three story hotel with 100 rooms, one (1) seven story hotel with 174 rooms, two (2) one story restaurant buildings, a combined retail and office use building, a .59 acre Village Green to be offered for dedication to the Village and associated parking and access facilities. It is projected that the entire site (12.66 acres) will be cleared to allow for the development. Approximately 2.95 acres or 23.25 percent of the site, is proposed to be replanted with landscape species and turf. The project is located on the west side of Veterans Memorial Highway (NYS Route 454) and the south side of Motor Parkway (County Route 67) in the Village of Islandia, New York.
