Public Notice

Wetland Map Amendments Initiated

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 24 (Freshwater Wetlands Act) of the New York State Environmental Conservation Law and the Freshwater Wetlands Mapping and Classification Regulations (6 NYCRR Part 664) that New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) proposes to amend Monroe County Freshwater Wetland Map 13 of 21 originally filed in 1986. The wetland amendments would affect 18 wetlands and consist of additions, boundary adjustments, deletions, revisions to wetland classifications and revisions to wetland identification numbers. The proposed wetland changes are being shown on a map using a more current and accurate road network to better portray the location of these changes. Maps showing the proposed revisions are available at the clerk's office in the village, town and county where the change is taking place, as well as at the NYS DEC - Region 8 Office, 6274 East Avon-Lima Rd, Avon, New York. NYS DEC regulated wetlands can be viewed on the NYS DEC website at: www.dec.ny.gov/animals/38801.html and using the Environmental Resource Mapper. Written comments on the accuracy of the proposed changes to the maps may be mailed to the person listed below through October 31, 2008. All comments received through October 31, 2008 will be considered. Pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 664, once the announcement of a proposed amendment has been made, no activity subject to regulation under the Freshwater Wetlands Act may be initiated without a permit from NYS DEC within the area that is the subject of the proposal (including the 100 foot or extended wetland adjacent area) until the Commissioner has either amended the map or denied the amendment.
