Project Description:

The applicant proposes to operate a new 5 acre bluestone quarry on a 106 acre parcel of land. The applicant applied for and received a Bluestone Exploration Authorization in 2006. The quarry will be excavated using drilling, blasting and mechanical equipment; and the material will be removed with the use of mechanical stone saws, air drills, feathers, chisels, air bladders, bobcats and forklifts. The quarry is located at the end of Marsh Pond Road, approximately 1.3 mile northwest of the intersection with NYS Route 41.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes the expansion of an existing landfill gas recovery facility within Sections II and III of the Broome County Landfill. Ten additional gas extraction wells are proposed with a maximum well depth of 105'. All wells are to be constructed using 6-inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe. The ten new wells will enable landfill gas to be recovered from additional areas where municipal waste has been placed.

The new wells are part of continuing operations within Sections I, II, and III of the Broome County Landfill and the permit for the expanded Landfill Gas Recovery System will establish a protocol for the Department's review and approval of anticipated additional infracture (wells, horizontal lines, etc.) to maximize landfill gas recovery.
