The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to renew State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) # NY 022 7820, for the Prahler Property in Monroe County. This is a pre-existing Private/Commercial/Institutional SPDES permit. DEC has made a tentative determination to renew this permit and set a standard five year term maintaining current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements. This permit involves the surface discharge of up to 500 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste into Lake Ontario, a class A water. Additional information including the current permit, renewal applications, and supporting documentation may be obtained from or inspected at the DEC central office in Albany. Substantive comments on the permit or requests for hearing or both must be submitted in writing to the contact person. DEC seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance

Project Description:

The applicant proposes a one-time re-treatment of a 1.5 ac. retention pond in the Allen's Creek Valley community with the aquatic herbicide Navigate, a 27.6% concentration of a butoxyethyl ester of 2-4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. The treatment is intended to control Eurasian water milfoil, an invasive, non-native aquatic plant species, using a concentration of 100 lbs/acre. The application will be by granular broadcast with a maximum amount of herbicide allowed of 150 lbs. The project site is approximately 2,000 ft. west of the Penfield Rd. / Panorama Trail intersection, adjacent to Irondequoit Creek.
