Notice of Acceptance of Draft Supplemental EIS and Public Hearing
Nassau County - The Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Great Neck Estates, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) on the proposed Special Use Permit Application of Ohr Menachem of Great Neck, Inc. A public hearing on the Draft SEIS will be held on September 8, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at Village Hall, 4 Atwater Plaza, Great Neck, New York 11021. Written comments on the Draft SEIS will be accepted until ten days after the close of the aforesaid public hearing, or until a later time period that may be specified by the lead agency at aforesaid public hearing. The action involves the request for a special use permit to expand operations at the existing Silverstein Hebrew Academy. Specifically, the applicant is requesting an expansion of the existing kindergarten and pre-school program; an increase in the maximum number of students permitted; an extension of operating days, hours and programs; and implementation of a seven-days-per-week, year-round schedule that includes summer camp. In addition, the applicant is requesting permission for a reversal of traffic flow such that vehicles enter the property via the westernmost access point and depart via the easternmost access point. The project is located at 117 Cuttermill Road, Great Neck Estates, New York.

Nassau County - The Incorporated Village of Old Westbury Board of Trustees, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Application of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre for the Subdivision and Special Exception Use Permit Approval. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on August 18, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village of Old Westbury Village Hall. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted by the contact person listed below. Copies of the DEIS will be available for review at the Old Westbury Village Hall and on the website: www.fecg.us. The action involves the subdivision of 97.3 acres into a proposed cemetery and nine lot residential subdivision. The cemetery will contain an office, chapel, maintenance area, mausoleum complex and multiple, at grade areas for future grave sites to be developed in three phases over a period of approximately 45 years. The project is located along the northerly side of Jericho Turnpike between Hitchcock Lane and Powells Lane in the Incoporated Village of Old Westbury, New York.
