Project Description:
The applicant proposes a discharge of 4,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary/hospital wastewater to groundwaters (Class GA) from a septic tank / leach field system with additional treatment to remove organic compounds at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, 75 Park Street, Elizabethtown. The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a permit for a State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental Conservation law. Project Description:
The applicant proposes to expand an existing sand and gravel mine by 5.7 acres, for a new total life of mine of 13.7 acres, with a projected 20-year life of mine period. A total of 9 acres will be affected this term. Reclamation (revegetation to grasslands) will occur on an ongoing basis. Material will be excavated using a front end loader. No material processing is proposed at this site. This is a seasonal operation, Monday - Friday, 7:30 - 4:30 PM. The project is located on Valley Rd, approx .4 miles south of the Valley Rd and Straight Rd intersection on a 218-acre parcel of land owned by Benjamin A. Straight. This proposal was also under APA's jurisdiction (APA Project No. 2007-64).
