Positive Declaration

Schuyler County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed It's Greener Now Inc. - Padua Gravel Pit may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves the a 91.94 acre expansion of a 14.33 acre sand and gravel mine for a total mining acreage of 106.27 acres. The mining excavation area is bordered on the south by Watkins Glen State Park and St. Mary's Cemetery, on the east by the Village of Watkins Glen drainage easement and on the west by NYS Route 409. The 91.94 acre addition to the life of mine area includes a 20.78 acre area west of NY Route 409 for a railroad loading area and stockpiles, where mining is not proposed. The project is located at 3362 NYS Route 409 in Watkins Glen, New York.
