Project Description:

Construction of a commercial nursery and garden center known as George's Market on an approximately 11.4 acre property located at the northwest quadrant of the intersection of Sparrowbush Road and Wade Road Extension in the Town of Colonie. The existing George's Market, which is located on Troy-Schenectady Road, will be relocated to this new location at 240 Wade Road Extension.
The project will consist of the construction of an approximately 11,760 square feet retail garden center, 8 greenhouses, equipment storage areas, material bins and plant storage areas. Other site improvements include interior gravel drives, paved parking areas, and stormwater management areas. Access to the property will be via driveway connections to Wade Road Extension and Sparrowbush Road, with the primary access being from Wade Road Extension.
The project will result in the overall disturbance of approximately 8.11 acres of land, including 0.09 acre of federally regulated wetlands.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

A cultural resources survey has been completed. Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have no impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jun 12, 2008.
