Suffolk County - The Town of Brookhaven Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Whispering Hills at Yaphank Preliminary Subdivision and Main Street Land Division at Yaphank may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves the legalization of an illegally divided land division of 83 acres. The property was sold off as unapproved lots into four (4) parcels. The land was divided and sold as lots without review or approval by the Town of Brookhaven or other Involved Agencies. The current land division application is by the owner of one lot, the buyers of the other illegally created lots have not joined the application. Lot #2 of the illegal land division is now proposed to be subdivided with cluster treatment on 38 acres of property for the construction of 32 single family homes, roads, drainage and on site sanitary systems. The project is located on the northside of Main Street approximately 1,500 feet east of Yaphank Avenue in the Hamlet of Yaphank, Town of Brookhaven, New York.
