Notice of Invitation to Attend Public Meetings Regarding the Management of Used Electronics for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
The Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) is amending regulations concerning handling of used electronics. Three informational public meetings to discuss NYS DEC's proposed used electronics rulemaking are scheduled for June 2008. Purposes of these meetings are to:
• Provide detailed information on proposed rulemaking topics.
• Open a dialogue to obtain information from stakeholders about current practices and costs/benefits of possible changes, in order to better develop draft regulations.
• Receive comments and feedback from stakeholders;.
• Determine further outreach efforts needed.

The dates, times, and locations are as follows:
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Yonkers Public Library (Riverfront Branch), Community Room AB, One Larkin Center, Yonkers, NY 10701.
Tuesday, June 17th, 2008, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Rochester Institute of Technology, CIMS Building, Rooms 2230-2240, 111 Lomb Memorial Drive, Rochester, NY 14623.
Monday, June 23rd, 2008, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the NYS DEC Headquarters, 625 Broadway, Room 129 A&B, Albany, NY 12233.

Who should attend: Although this rulemaking will primarily affect collectors, dismantlers and recyclers of used electronics, including cell phones, anyone interested in learning more about the rulemaking, including manufacturers, retailers, municipalities, representatives of environmental associations, and the general public are invited.
