Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a modification of an existing SPDES permit for the Allens Inc. Bergen facility food processing plant which discharges treated food processing wastes from aeration lagoons and corn wastewater tanks to spray fields. The changes include the elimination of several monitoring points including the concentrated corn tank farm wastewater, runoff pond discharge, and runoff pond recirculated to holding lagoon due to extensive, consistent data which verifies protection of the environment; the removal of limits from the monitoring wells; and other administrative changes. As a tentative determination, the Department seeks comments prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. The file is available for review and comment at NYSDEC Region 8.

Project Description:

The Department has received an application for the installation of approximately 4,100 linear feet of 8 inch ductile iron water main, valves, hydrants, and appurtenances along a portion of Roosevelt Highway (NYS Route 18) in the Town of Hamlin. A portion of this watermain is proposed to be installed within the regulated 100 foot adjacent area of NYS regulated freshwater wetland HM-23 at the intersection of Huntington Parkway and Roosevelt Highway. The watermain will also cross West Creek south of Huntington Parkway. The majority of the watermain will be installed within the existing roadway embankment and standard sediment and erosion controls will be used to protect the wetland resource and maintain water quality standards.
The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

Project Description:

The project sponsor proposes to widen a previously permitted access road to two lanes and result in a 28 ft. wide access to the proposed upland commercial development. the upland development will include the construction of a restaurant, retail facility, 3 story hotel, stormwater management facility and associated parking lots. The work regulated by the Department will involve the 100 ft. adjacent area of NYS Freshwater Wetland CG-20. The site is located north of and adjacent to NYS Routes 5 & 20 in the Town Canandaigua. The project sponsor has made modifications from the original proposal by reducing the impacts to the wetland adjacent area. The Department will require the restoration/plantings within the wetland adjacent area be done before other upland work is undertaken due to previously Environmental Conservation Law violations at the site.
