The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has determined that the Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites in New York State needs to be amended to delete site number 130114, known as the Jim Jam Cleaners. This site is located in the Town of Hempstead, within the County of Nassau, and is located at 1200 Merrick Road. The reason for deletion is:
Tetrachloroethylene (PCE) levels in groundwater were as high as 910 ppb in 2001. The New York State Groundwater Standard for PCE is 5 ppb. Semi-annual groundwater sampling conducted in 2003 and 2004 revealed that post remediation levels of PCE had diminished to less than 5 ppb. No further monitoring is required. The site does not pose a significant threat to human health or the environment.
Written comments on this proposed deletion are welcome, and should be sent to the Project Manager:

Nassau County - The Nassau Health Care Corporation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed A. Holly Patterson Nursing Home will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the replacement of the existing A. Holly Patterson (AHP) Nursing Home with new state-of-the-art facilities to be located elsewhere within the same 63 acre campus. The proposed replacement facilities will include: a 320 bed skilled nursing facility; a 150 bed assisted living facility; and, a diagnostic and treatment center and dialysis center (29 units). The 63 acre property will be further subdivided to meet funding requirements. The proposed action will also include site improvements including parking, utilities and other infrastructure improvements necessary to support the proposed facilities. Following the decanting of the existing A. Holly Patterson Nursing Home residents to either the new facilities or other facilities as appropriate, the existing AHP will be demolished. The project is located at 875 Jerusaleum Avenue in Uniondale, New York.
