Project Description:

The applicant operates the Thousand Island Trailer Park, in Blind Bay, St. Lawrence River, located approximately three miles northeast of the Village of Clayton. The applicant proposes to hydraulic dredge 2'-3' of silt in and around the facilities' southern docking system, a section of adjacent navigation channel, approximately 350' long x 40' wide x1' deep, and 2'-3' of silt from the area in and around the facility boat launch and service docks. Dredged material would be pumped to a constructed upland berm area for sediment setttling.

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to reconstruct a dam on Miller Brook that failed in November 2005 during a significant storm event that washed out several upstream beaver dams, resulting in the overtopping of the dam, and causing failure. The new dam spillway will be cast in place concrete, 18 feet in length, founded on an aluminum sheet pile cell with soil foundation. The adjacent embankment sections will be protected with an aluminum sheet pile retaining wall. Bank to bank length of the dam structure and embankments will be approximately 190 feet. Gomez and Sullivan Engineers, P.C., 288 Genesee Street, Utica, New York 13502, designed the dam reconstruction project and will provide construction oversight. The site is located 0.32 miles south of the Moose River Road, 3.5 miles east of the Village of Port Leyden.
