Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing
Niagara County - The City of North Tonawanda Planning Commission, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on March 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the North Tonawanda City Hall, 216 Payne Avenue, North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until March 21, 2008. A copy of the DEIS is available at the City Clerk's office, 216 Payne Avenue, North Tonawanda, NY, or on the City's website at: www.northtonawanda.org. The action involves the construction of a 185,312 ± square foot Wal-Mart Supercenter on 38 acres. The project also involves the demolition of the Melody Fair venue and Bluebird Coach Lines station and the creation of four separate outparcels. Access to the project is proposed from Niagara Falls Boulevard and from Wurlitzer Drive. The project is located near the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard (US Route 62) and Erie Avenue (State Route 425) in the City of North Tonawanda, New York.
