Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Board of Trustees, Incorporated Village of Patchogue, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Expansion of the Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the upgrade to an existing wastewater treatment facility to meet anticipated increases in sanitary flow from continued development in the region and from potential expansion of the Village's Sewer District. The upgrade is necessary to add capacity and improve treatment levels for sewage effluent.

The proposed expansion is from a 0.5 million gallon per day (MGD) capacity facility to a 0.8 MGD capacity facility. The proposal will include a combination of extending the existing gravity and low pressure sewers, construction of new low pressure sewers for the commercial area and construction of new vacuum sewers in the residential areas. New treatment processes to be installed will eliminate the need for chlorine effluent treatment with associated benefits to the receiving waters.

The project is located on South Street in the Village of Patchogue, New York.
