Project Description:

The applicant proposes to construct 80 linear feet of bulkhead within 21" of the existing bulkhead. The new bulkhead will be 18" higher than the existing. Dredge 10 ft. seaward of the replacement bulkhead to a maximum depth of 4 ft. below mean low water. Resultant 25 cubic yards of dredged material to be used as backfill. Replace 10 ft. x 80 ft. cantilevered deck and install a ramp and 8 ft. x 20 ft. float secured by two piles. The property is located at 70 Vinton Street, Long Beach, County of Nassau, on Hagen Canal.

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for the facility known as USNONWOVENS, at Emjay Blvd., Brentwood, Town of Islip. The permit will include the discharge of 9900 gallons per day of uncontaminated reverse Osmosis System Reject water and less than 1000 gallons per day of sanitary wastewater to Class GA Groundwater. The Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination does not signify department approval for or endorsement of the activity for which a permit is sought or for the overall proposed project. Refer to this application by application number listed above and SPDES number NY 026 7279. A copy of the application and draft permit are available at the Region 1 Stony Brook Office.

A cultural resources survey has been completed. The report of the survey is on file. No archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
