Location: East side of County Road 10 in the Town of Lewis, New York.

Project Description: The action involves a commercial sand and gravel extraction which has a 23.56 acre Life of Mine area. The overall mining operation is projected to continue for another 50 years. An average of 8,500 cubic yards and a maximum of 23,500 cubic yards of sand and gravel are removed from the extraction annually. Extraction operations are to occur year-round, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon). Sand and gravel will be excavated by use of a front-end loader and occasionally by a bulldozer. Both a non-vibratory screening plant and a vibratory screening plant will be employed to process excavated material. No material crushing is proposed. A maximum of 24 loaded trucks are to leave the site per day.
Notice of Acceptance of Draft SEIS and Public Hearing
Warren County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Portion of the 2005 Gore UMP Amendment RE: the Interconnect between Gore Mt. Ski Center and Historic North Creek Ski Bowl. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on March 4, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Base Lodge at Gore Mountain Ski Center, Peaceful Valley Road, North Creek, NY 12853. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until April 14, 2008. Copies of the Draft SEIS are available from the contact person listed below and on line at: http://www.goremountain.com/.
