Project Description:

The applicant proposes to stabilize a 98 foot eroded bank along an existing 4' x 131' walkway by installing a rock rip-rap retaining wall consisting of 100-500 pound interlocking stone underlain with core stone blanket and backfilled with 80 cubic yards of clean sand and loam planted with beach grass, salt spray rose and other non-ornamental vegetation. A portion of the structure/fill is proposed seaward of high water and therefore classified presumptively incompatible pursuant to 661.5#30. The property is located at the lot east of 353 Harbor Road, NCTM#60-E-6, Lido Beach, Hempstead Town, Nassau County on Reynolds Channel.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Feb 14, 2008.
