The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) administers the Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) pursuant to State Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) 27-1400 et seq. The BCP was created to encourage the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated properties known as brownfields. The requestor indicated above has submitted a BCP application for the site indicated above.

NYS DEC will accept public comments concerning the application. A copy of the application and other appropriate documents (application package) is available in the site document repository located at the address indicated below.

NYS DEC will review the application package and public comments received and then make a determination on the eligibility of the application.

Negative Declaration

New York County (Manhattan) - The MTA New York City Transit (NYCT), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Mother Clara Hale Bus Depot will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the proposal to replace the existing Mother Clara Hale Bus Depot in the Central Harlem area with a new bus facility on the existing site. The proposed depot would consist of a new three-story above ground structure with a second floor mezzanine. The depot would be used for maintenance and storage for a 150 bus capacity. The project is located at 721 Lenox Avenue in the Borough of Manhattan, City of New York, New York.
