Lead Agency: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC)

Project Title: Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda 2005-2009: 2007 Update

Brief Project Description: The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation had released the Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda 2005-2009: 2007 Update. The 2007 Update is a mid-course updating of the Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda 2005-2009 which underwent complete public review under SEQR in 2005-2006. The Action Agenda 2005-2009 identifies projects proposed to be implemented over a four year period by DEC and, in partnership with other agencies.

The Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda 2005-2009: 2007 Update makes minor adjustments to the Action Agenda 2005-2009 mid-way through its timeframe. The goals of the Action Agenda remain unchanged. Minor revisions have been made to target dates within each goal to better reflect anticipated deliverables and language has been added to recognize emerging issues such as climate change and smart growth. The names on the document have been updated to reflect administrative changes at the state level.

The Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda 2005-2009, released January 2006, underwent a complete public review and comment process, pursuant to SEQRA in 2005, and included the development and public review of both the Action Agenda and Generic Environmental Impact Statement. This 2007 update of the Action Agenda is being undertaken at this time to reflect changes that have occurred in the administration of the State, and to adjust projected time frames for completion of targets as described in the Agenda. No changes have been made to the goals of the Agenda. Proposed revisions to the document were reviewed by the program's citizen advisory committee (Hudson River Estuary Management Advisory Committee) and were discussed at public meetings of the committee during 2007. Subsequent revisions of the Action Agenda for 2010 and following years will be subject to a full environmental assessment review process under SEQR.
