Project Description: The project consists of the co-location of 12 Verizon Wireless panel antennas on an existing 212 foot tall NYS DOCS smokestack at the Clinton County Correctional facility. Six Nextel panel antennas are already present on the smokestack, at approximately 202 feet above ground level. The proposed Verizon antennas will be located approximately 122 feet above ground level at their centerline. Each antenna will be 95.4" x 5.5" x 13.2" in dimension. The proposed antennas, mounting equipment, and coaxial cables will be painted to blend with the existing brick smokestack. An 11'6" x 30' fenced equipment shelter will also be constructed on the project site. The installation of the antennas will allow Verizon Wireless to provide wireless communication services to DOCS, other State Agencies, and the public in the vicinity of the project.
Hamilton County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Graymount Material (NY) Inc., Wells Quarry will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the proposal to develop and operate a consolidated bedrock (dolostone) quarry within an existing 35 acre sand and gravel mine, to be operated over a 60 year period. Mining operations include onsite crushing, screening, and washing, with blasting an average of 2 times per month, with an average of 100,000 tons of material to be removed annually. The proposal includes a 20 acre reduction of a 55.3 acre life of mine (to a 35 acre life of mine) to exclude a wetland area. The site is part of a 155 acre parcel of land owned by the applicant. The mine will be reclaimed to a 19 acre pond, with 11 acres of grassland, and a 5 acre concrete batch plant facility. The project is located at State Route 30 @ Catherine Street in Wells, New York.
