Project Description:

The applicant proposes to dredge an irregular 1280 sq. ft. area to 4' below apparent low water and to place the resultant 88 cu. yds. of dredged material as fill on-site, construct 67.5 linear feet of new bulkhead, and construct 33 linear feet of new bulkhead within 18' of an existing bulkhead. A new dock is also proposed to be constructed; the dock would consist of a 5' x 17' platform, 3' x 20' ramp, 8' x 100' float, three 2.5' x 20' finger floats, and two 3' x 30' finger floats. The purpose of the project is provide additional mooring space at an existing marina. The proposed project is located in NYSDEC regulated tidal wetlands at 479 Reina Road in Oceanside, Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, NCTM# 43-236-7, 8, 9, 10, 11 &12.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

A Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form has been completed. The proposed activity will not impact on registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to construct a single family dwelling with porch and rear deck, driveway, woodchip path and catwalk, ramp and float. The house/deck is proposed within 43 feet of the tidal wetlands at the site. Variance from the 75 foot minimum setback for structures from the tidal wetlands has been requested. The project is located on the west side of Roosevelt Blvd at Cove Street, Massapequa, Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, NCTM# Section 66, Block 150, Lot 36.

A cultural resources survey has been completed. Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have no impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
