Project Title: Verizon Wireless, North Hudson Site

Location: US Route 9, Town of North Hudson, New York

Project Description: The project is the construction of a new 84 foot tall telecommunications tower with a 12 panel antenna array (i.e., four 8 foot panels on each of three sides of the array) with a 10 foot high lightening rod attached to the top of the tower, all located on a 100 foot x 100 foot leased parcel. The overall height of the proposed tower with the 10 foot lightening rod will be 94 feet. The applicant also proposes an 11 foot 7 inch x 30 foot x 10 foot 7 inch equipment building on a concrete pad at the base of the tower, an ice bridge to protect the cables connecting the tower to the equipment building and a chain link fence around the entire compound. Access to the tower location will be over an existing gravel road. Some improvements to the road are proposed.


Notice of Acceptance of Draft GEIS and Public Hearing

Essex, Hamilton, Oneida and Warren Counties - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed North Country National Scenic Trail Draft Adirondack Park Trail Plan (GEIS). Public meetings will be held on December 5th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Warrensburg DEC Office, on December 6th from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Boonville Town/Village Hall and on December 7th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the NYS DEC Central Office in Albany. Paper copies of the plan or electronic copies on CD will be available beginning November 26th at the Department's Albany, Regional, and sub-regional offices (Regions 5 and 6 only) or by calling (518) 473-9518. An electronic copy can also be downloaded off the Department's website at: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/39658.html. Comments are welcome and will be accepted until January 4, 2008. Kindly submit your comments to the contact person listed below or to adirondackpark@dec.ny.gov.

The action involves a plan which describes a proposed route across the central region of the Adirondack Park. The route assessment presented in this plan will be integrated into the unit management plans (UMP) for each respective unit traversed by the trail. The proposed action will intersect nine units of the New York State Forest Preserve: Black River Wild Forest, West Canada Lake Wilderness, Moose River Plains Wild Forest, Jessup River Wild Forest, Siamese Ponds Wilderness, Hudson Gorge Primitive Area, Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest, Hoffman Notch Wilderness and Hammond Pond Wild Forest.
