Project Description:

The applicant proposes the continued development of a +/- 6-acre sand and gravel mine on a +/- 19-acre contiguous parcel located on the west side of State Route 9N at street number 4770, approximately 0.15 miles south of its intersection with Heath Road. Mining has been occurring on the property for +/- 25 years, below the NYS DEC Mined Land Reclamation Law regulatory thresholds, and mining is proposed to continue as a traditional surface mechanical extraction at a rate of approximately 2000 to 3000 cubic yards/year. The reclamation objective is natural regenerative wildlife habitat.

Filed application documents, and Department draft permits where applicable, are available for inspection under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Law during normal business hours at the address of the contact person.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.

SEQR Lead Agency: NYS Department of Environmental Conservation

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

A Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form has been completed. The proposed activity will not impact on registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Dec 07, 2007.
