M.J.L. Crushing, LLC proposes to develop and operate a 25.96 acre limestone quarry on a 33.8 acre parcel approximately one mile north of the Village of Lowville, west of NYS Route 12. On-site processing would take place, including: crushing, screening, and stockpiling. Blasting would take place three to five times per year. Mining would take place below the local water table, and pumping to a retention basin is proposed. It is anticipated that 150,000 to 300,000 tons of material would be removed per year, with a mine life anticipated at 15 years.
A legislative hearing on the application will be held to receive unsworn statements from the public pursuant to Title 6 of the New York Compilation of Codes, Rules and Regulations ( NYCRR) Part 621 on December 4, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. All interested parties may submit written comments at the hearing or by mail no later than December 4, 2007.
