Negative Declaration

Saratoga County - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Replacement of the Batchellerville Bridge will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the replacement of the existing multi-span steel deck truss with a multi-span steel girder structure. The bridge will be replaced on a parallel alignment located south of the existing bridge. The project extends from approximately 625 feet west of the Wessels Road intersection with County Route 98, easterly across the bridge on County Route 98, to 575 feet east of the intersection of County Route 7 and County Route 98. The existing Y-type intersection of County Route 98 with South Shore Road will be reconstructed as a T-type intersection. The new bridge has a proposed center span vertical clearance of 42 feet over the base lake elevation of 768 feet above sea level. The bridge will be approximately 3,100 feet long and will carry two 11 foot wide travel lanes, two 5 foot wide shoulders and a 5 foot wide raised concrete sidewalk on the north side of the bridge. Traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge for the duration of construction. Demolition of the existing bridge will be performed after the new structure is complete and open to traffic. Two seasonal residential dwellings, located in the southwest quadrant of the bridge will be acquired to accommodate the bridge replacement. The project is located on County Route 98 over the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Town of Edinburgh, New York.
