Project Description: The Department of Environmental Conservation is reviewing a TRP application ( #4329) to allow Mr. David W. Hicks to remove an existing wood breakwall along the shore of Raquette Lake and replace it with a new wood breakwall extending from a point on the natural shoreline at the north end to a point set back six feet from the location of the existing breakwall on the south end. Comments will be accepted until October 31, 2007.

Project Description: The project is after the fact approval for the construction of a water bottling plant (an industrial use) and associated commercial retail sale of water within the bottling plant. The facility will be located on the footprint of a preexisting agriculture barn which was converted into a water bottling facility without an Agency permit in 1990. The proposal includes the reconstruction of the plant (which burned in February, 2007), and utilization of two existing springs. The new facility is proposed to be a 29 foot tall natural earth tone building having a footprint of 9,950 ± square feet. In addition, the proposal includes recommencing use of two existing spring houses; a 12 foot tall spring house having a footprint of 768 ± square feet located along the Adirondack Park boundary and a 4 foot high 60 ± square foot well house located northerly of the bottling plant.

Project Description: The action involves a waste disposal area and a Village of Saranac Police Department vehicle impound area. The waste disposal area involves the annual disposal of less than 3,000 cubic yards of yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, garden debris, tree branches, limbs and other similar materials) by residents of the Village of Saranac Lake. Yard waste will be composted in piles for approximately 12 months (18 months maximum), piles will be aerated by turning piles weekly with a front-end loader. Brush will be chipped and added to the piles. Composted material will then be used as soil by the applicant at its parks and recreation areas. Up to approximately 10 private vehicle loads are expected per day. The waste disposal area will operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The vehicle impound area is a 40-foot by 75-foot area enclosed by fence and a locked gate for the storage of up to 10 vehicles impounded by the Village of Saranac Police Department. The impound area is to be paved with milled asphalt pavement. No public access to the impound area is allowed.
