Steuben County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has received an application for the proposed Presho Pit Sand and Gravel Mine. A Legislative Public Hearing will be held on October 23, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Lindley Fire Department on County Route 120 in the Town of Lindley, NY. The hearing will be held pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 621.8(c)(1). Written statements may be submitted to the contact person prior to the hearing and no later than October 30, 2007, following the hearing. The action involves the development of a 68.25 acre sand and gravel mine on a 175.17 acre parcel. The mine will operate as a traditional surface excavation of sand and gravel by mechanical equipment including mining below the water table to excavate a process water pond. The excavated material will be washed, screened and crushed. Final reclamation will restore the site to graded and revegetated meadow and open space, with the water supply pond filled in. More detailed information on this project can be found at http://www.dec.ny.gov/enb/36096.html#reg8. The project is located on the Glenn O.
