Project Description:
The applicant is proposing to permanently disturb 36 square feet of wetlands, temporarily disturb 1.82 acres of wetland and convert 1.51 acres of forested wetland to scrub-shrub wetland. The impacts are associated with the construction of a wind power project including a maximum of 35 turbines, 8.8 miles of gravel access road, 14.8 miles of buried 34.5 kV electrical cables, a collector substation, an O&M building and a staging area. The applicant also proposes to construct a 9-mile 115kV transmission line from the collector substation to an interconnect substation. The project is located in the Towns of Cohocton and Avoca in Steuben County

A draft environmental impact statement has been prepared on this project and is on file.
SEQR Lead Agency: Cohocton Town Planning Board
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:
A cultural resources survey has been completed. Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have an impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. The department must consult further with OPRHP before making a final decision regarding the issuance of the permit.
Coastal Management:
This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
Opportunity for Public Comment:
Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Oct 19, 2007.
