Project Description:

The applicant proposes to repair a pier footing at the Manhasset Viaduct by installing a sheet pile cofferdam around the pier and dewatering, removing the existing steel sheeting, timber framework and unsound concrete and repair/pour new concrete. The applicant also proposes to place rock riprap around and between the foundation of the repaired pier and the adjacent pier. Placement of the riprap will result in the filling of approximately 300 square feet of tidal wetlands known as shoals and mudflats/littoral zone (SM/LZ). The project is located at the LIRR Manhasset Viaduct at Manhasset Creek, Manhasset, Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to replace a portion of the existing culvert which conveys Mill Creek under Montauk Highway in Water Mill. The portion to be replaced is the southerly 30 feet of the approximately 79 foot long by 15 foot wide structure. The work includes the installation of temporary coffer dams at the north and south ends of the culvert to dewater the construction area, the temporary installation of a bypass pipe to maintain creek flow through the work area, the removal of the existing, deteriorated section of culvert, the installation of the replacement section with new concrete wingwalls at the south end and the reconstruction of approximately 50 feet of existing bulkheading. The roadway, sidewalk, guiderail,other infrastructure and landscaping above the culvert will be restored or reconstructed.
