Project Description:

The applicant is proposing to relocate the course/flow of the channel of the Aquwamuck Creek for a distance of approximately 300 yards back to pre-storm conditions. As a result of a storm/high water which occurred in May of 2007 the stream began to severely erode two producing hay fields. In relocating the stream channel 300, 000 plus cubic yards of gravel will need to be moved and large rip-rap will need to be placed along the stream bank to prevent further erosion. Appropriate ground cover will be planted to further protect the banks from further erosion. The project site is located off of Walden Road in the Town of Claverack, Columbia County.

The project site contains 4.87+/- acres of federal wetlands, of which, approximately 0.19 acres will be permanently filled as a result of roadway construction. As a form of mitigation for these wetland losses, the applicant proposes to preserve approximately 5.16+/- acres of undisturbed wetlands remaining on the site and 2.24+/- acres of upland buffer. The preservation areas will be protected from future development in an undisturbed natural condition via the placement of a restrictive covenants on these lands. On-site septic systems, municipal water mains, roadways and stormwater management basins will also be installed as part of the project. The project site is located at Rosemere Road in the Town of Glenville.

The excavated materials will be removed to an upland location and stabilized.
