ENB - Region 4 Notices

Negative Declaration

Greene County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Clear Cut Greene RA #3, Stands C-1 and C-2 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a clear-cut of approximately 43 acres of a white spruce plantation. This plantation was damaged during a heavy snow storm in April 2007, therefore it is necessary to remove the trees in order to maintain the health and vigor of the overall forest. The site will be replanted with Norway spruce seedlings. Approximately 2-3 trees will be left per acre for wildlife habitat. These will serve as sites for dens and roosting areas. Approximately 0.2 of a mile of the existing Long Path hiking trail may be impacted by the harvesting operation, which could result in a temporary disruption in recreational use. The project is located seven miles northwest of the Village of Windham in the Towns of Windham and Ashland, New York.
