Project Description:

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to renew State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) # NY 015 8101, for Lakeside Beach State Park in Orleans County. This is a pre-existing Private/Commercial/Institutional SPDES permit. DEC has made a tentative determination to renew this permit and set a standard five year term maintaining current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements. This permit involves the surface discharge of up to 49,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste into Lake Ontario, a class A stream and Johnson Creek, a class C stream.

DEC seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

The Department has received an application to modify the wastewater discharge permit for the above referenced facility to add a new outfall to accomodate a proposed 47 unit recreational vehicle park at the existing facility on Lynch Road in the Town of Murray. The facility currently consists of a golf club and party house. The applicant proposes to discharge 5200 gallons per day of treated sanitary wastewater to the Erie Canal via the McCargo Lake outlet. Both the Erie Canal and the McCargo Lake outlet are Class C waterbodies. The wastewater will be treated in a sand bed filter system.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. A draft permit is available for review at the Department's Region 8 office in Avon.
