Project Description: The Department of Environmental Conservation is reviewing a TRP application to allow the Hudson Valley Triathalon Club to host an inter club competition (400 yard swim, 12 mile bike, 2 mile run) utilizing campground facilities. The events will occur at 5:45 PM to approx 8:00 PM on August 15th and September 12th. The event organizer anticipates approximately 50 participants. Emergency staff will be on standby and police will provide traffic safety for the events. Comments will be accepted until August 7th, 2007.

Shandaken Tunnel Outlet SPDES Permit General Meeting - August 14, 2007

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) hereby gives notice that a meeting will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., on August 14, 2007, at the Shandaken Town Hall on Route 28 in Shandaken, NY.

The meeting is being held in accordance with State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Discharge Permit No. NY-026-8151, for the Shandaken Tunnel Outlet. NYCDEP will discuss the progress of turbidity reduction projects it proposes to undertake as well as management efforts that may be undertaken by volunteers and other concerned groups and individuals. In addition, NYCDEP welcomes input on stream quality from the public.

The meeting is open to the public.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing

Dutchess County - The Planning Board of the Town of Pleasant Valley, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Taconic Homes development. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on August 14, 2007 at 7:15 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Fire House on Route 44, Pleasant Valley. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until 15 days following the close of the public hearing. The action involves the Applicant, TRG of N.Y., LLC is proposing to construct a 252 unit condominium complex to be known as Taconic Homes on a vacant 72.22 (+/-) acre parcel. The development will be comprised of: 180 two-bedroom units; and 72 three-bedroom units. The project will include for the use of its residents: a swimming pool; a tennis court; several tot-lot play areas; a clubhouse; a pedestrian path system linking the residential clusters to the central recreation/community center area; a nature trail. A total of 1,033 off-street parking spaces will be provided of which: 466 will be in garages, 466 in paved aprons adjacent to the garage, and 101 spaces within cut-outs along development roads. The project is located at NYS Route 44, east of the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Pleasant Valley.

Orange County - The Town of Wallkill Planning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Orange Regional Medical Center. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on August 15, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wallkill Town Hall, 99 Tower Drive Middltown, NY 10940. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until 10 days after the close of the public hearing. The action involves the construction of a 374-bed regional hospital to replace the Orange Regional Medical Center's Arden Hill Hospital and Horton Medical Center campuses. The new hospital will contain 606,172 square feet of floor area in a seven-story building, including emergency room, medical/surgical, outpatient, critical care, delivery/nursery services, and administrative and support facilities.

Vehicular access is proposed from two points including a full-movement entrance/exit drive on East Main Street and an extension of Midway Park Drive. The proposed building and a total of 1,675 surface parking spaces are proposed within the area of a proposed ring road that will have connections to East Main Street and the extension of Midway Park Drive. Only surface parking is proposed. The East Main Street driveway is proposed to be controlled by a traffic signal, with separate left and right turn lanes proposed on East Main Street.

The project is located at East Main Street, Town of Wallkill, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS


Westchester County - The Town of New Castle Zoning Board of Appeals, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Upper Westchester Muslim Society Masjid and Islamic Center. The action involves the approval of permits mnecessary to authorize the demolition of an existing single-family dwelling, accessory buildings and related site features, Followed by the construction and use of a 24,690 square foot building as a place of worship (two stories plus mezzanine level), including among other components a prayer hall, a religious school composed of 18 classrooms, a library and recreational facilities, and a 78-space parking lot. The planned facility is proposed to contain religious and cultural facilities and would accommodate education, recreational and social activities. The project is located at 130 Pines Bridge Road, Town of New Castle, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Supplemental EIS and Public Hearing

Orange County - The Town of Monroe Planning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Bald Hill Estates. A public hearing on the Supplemental EIS will be held on July 24, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Town of Monroe Senior Center, 101 Milne Rad, Monroe, NY 10950. Written comments on the Supplemental EIS will be accepted until August 10, 2007. The action involves a request for site plan and special use permit approval for a 112 townhouse unit multiple dwelling group, plus a subdivision of light industrial land effectuated be the proposed road pattern.
