The Steuben County Soil and Water Conservation District proposes to remove woody debris and gravel which has diverted 2400' of Cold Brook into an adjacent wetland (NYS FWW HP-3). An additional 500' feet of Cold Brook would be temporarily diverted through the wetland to allow the work to be done in the dry and to provide equipment access to facilitate the removal of woody debris and approximately 1000 cubic yards of gravel. The woody debris will be placed in the wetland area outside the stream corridor where it will provide habitat while decomposing naturally. Upon conclusion of the gravel and debris removal the full 2900' of stream will be diverted back into the stream channel.
