Permit(s) Applied for:

Article 17 Titles 7 & 8 P/C/I SPDES - Surface Discharge

Project is Located:

Tuxedo, Orange County

Project Description:

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to renew State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) # NY 010 2806, for Tuxedo Heights Condominiums in the town of Southfields. This is a pre-existing Private/Commercial/Institutional SPDES permit. DEC has made a tentative determination to renew this permit and set a standard five year term maintaining current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements. This permit involves the surface discharge of up to 18,900 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste into Ramapo River, a class C(T) water.

The DEC also proposes modification of the SPDES permit by deleting Part II General Conditions and all references to it in the permit, replacing it with the provision of 6NYCRR Part 750.2. The permit is also being amended to require compliance with the Discharge Notification Act (DNA) pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 750-1.12. The DNA requires that all SPDES permittees having a direct surface water discharge post a sign near each wastewater outfall and provide a repository for any Discharge Monitoring Reports, if such reports are required by the permit.

DEC seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.
