Project Description:

The site is located at the southwest corner of Park Ave. and Woodhull Rd., Huntington.

A draft environmental impact statement has been prepared on this project and is on file.
SEQR Lead Agency: Huntington Town Planning Board
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:
A cultural resources survey has been completed. Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have no impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.
Coastal Management:
This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:
The applicant proposes to restore an area of freshwater wetlands in the vicinity of Phillips Pond (NYSDEC FWW# SA-13) by removing approximately 17,400 square feet of Phragmities by selective cutting. Prior to cutting activities, native shrubs, sedges, and rushes will be flagged for protection. Phragmities stands are proposed to be cut to 18" above grade using hand tools. Cutting will take place monthy for four growing seasons. After the first year, all void areas within the restoration area are proposed to be vegetated with native ferns and rushes. A vegetated buffer area is proposed to be established from the wetland boundary to 125' landward. The buffer area is proposed to be planted with Switchgrass and seeded with wildflower mix. The applicant also proposes to regrade, construct a gravel driveway, and install two drywells in the vicinity of Sayer Pond (NYSDEC FWW# SA-14). In addition, a single family dwelling, pool, terrace, sanitary system, and drywells are proposed to be constructed greater than 100' from regulated freshwater wetlands. The proposed project is located at 225 Fowler Street in the Village of Southampton in Suffolk County, SCTM# 904-30-01-59.018.

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.
